WHY LOCAL: YOUR CHOICE
WHY LOCAL: YOUR CHOICE
Take action, and choose local
Take action, and choose local
These last few weeks have been a journey. I’ve been writing on the road, as Dave and I travel across the country to visit as many LOIBs as possible. Fleshing out our five “whys” has been vital for the cause, and now it’s time to take action.
Here is another why: why YOU should take action
On our site, you can find our Move $20 calculator. This will let you see the impact that convincing those around you to shift their spending will have in your community. Remember you’re not spending an extra $20, you’re making the choice to put $20 that you would have spent at a big-box chain into a local business.
For a city like Little Rock, AR this can mean over $600 million will stay in little rock, instead of going to the headquarters of some faceless corporation.
Just you, the person reading this, can make sure over $800 recirculate into your local economy by following our pledge for a year. Imagine if you got 10 friends involved. That is over $8,000 you and your friends would be contributing. Want to find out how much getting your whole town on board? Go to our pledge site and find out.
Other ways to take action:
There are always free ways to help locally owned businesses. Mom and pop businesses rely on word of mouth for most of the marketing, and posting on social media is free!
Support local businesses by joining our group and gushing over your favorite businesses. Leave reviews on their google and yelp pages, and share whenever they have something exciting going on.
You can also volunteer to become a Keep Local Alive ambassador. Ambassadors are enthusiastic volunteers who love their communities. We ask very little of you as an ambassador, just that you believe in the cause, be active on your local facebook group, and to be a leader when we launch a boost even in your city.
Conclusion
You can be sure I won’t stop talking about this! I have met so many incredible people on the road, I want to bring all those incredible stories to you, because these entrepreneurs, business owners, dreamers, etc. deserve all of our support.
